Leaf

It seems too early for leaves to turn in August, frost will not arrive for two months.  Yet from mid-August on colors begin to appear and leaves to fall in small quantities.  Here is a maple leaf that fell outside my apartment.  Its chlorophyll faded in this unique pattern.  It is a picture of partial senescence and might be said to be a symbol of my generation beginning to shut down and give place to the next.

Shrimp Flowers

These flowers are at the DesMoines botanical garden in Iowa.  I am not sure what they are but I think they were named for their resemblance to shrimp.
